![]() Shanna Karella |
Shanna Karella rarely submits, but she's only really been rejected once, so she must be doing something right. As for poetry, she is a former co-host of the Literature.Writing forum at Cafe Utne - - now The New Cafe. Shanna writes with her feet on the desk. |

In the past four years, Fox has moved three times, from the East to the Pacific Northwest, then to the Heartland; finally, to the Republic of Texas. Along the way, he went from a high-school poet who hadn't written a thing in 30 years, to his first publication in Lit Pot, then to become its poetry editor... later still, its "managing editor", a fancy term for the guy who does the scut work. Perversely, he loves it. Wrangling submissions and corresponding with writers has gained him a lot of fine acquaintances -- and some sincere friends -- in the world of small-press and online lit.
One of those contacts led him here. Lalo placed two poems in the "Perilous Journeys" issue of THQ. Three months later, he was on the Sidebar of "Esculent Flummery", and has been wearing the Janitorial overalls ever since. Being the oldest of the three by a fair margin, and the only male, has made Fox's life at THQ interesting, in the manner of that toast, "May we live in interesting times."
When not Hissing, Fox is one of the pseudonymous gang of capital managers at TQR: Total Quality Reading. He has at least four long science fiction story projects in various stages of incompletion, and co-moderates a discussion board devoted in part to the exploration of space. He also has a day job that he enjoys, and a girlfriend who's a grandmother (yes, Fox is that old...).
Besides Ink Pot and Hiss, Fox's poetry has appeared in Painted Moon Review (long since folded), Right Hand Pointing, and the Poet's Corner of the Books section of the Sunday Kansas City Star. Oddly enough, he is most proud of the last. His fiction has not appeared anywhere... yet.

![]() Sydney Nash
| Orphaned before she was born, Sydney Nash's favorite book as a child was "Are You My Mother?" Even at the tender age of five, she could argue with any adult that the author of this book wasn't Dr. Seuss, and so her editorial skills were finely honed; which is why she is the production editor for The Hiss Quarterly.
Ms. Nash has managed to publish short stories, articles, commentary and poetry all over the place. Someday she will finish writing many of the books she's started; and will submit most - - if not all - - of the poetry she has scribbled on the backs of envelopes and deposit slips (who uses those anyway?).
Sydney seldom sleeps (she's fond of napping) frets about her teenagers 24/7, loves her husband who is her biggest fan and she tries to quit smoking every day. Most of the time she succeeds. Soon she will finish her website, Blue Collar Goddess so you can hire her to make your website. She currently holds a degree in Theology. She will eventually put it down and hold something else, probably a shot glass. |
