Gigantic Days

Not merely physically,
nor emotionally,
nor in a clumsy and violent rape,

but spatially,
he stole into her dimension
like a diligent shadow
intent on eclipsing her.

Alarmed, she looked down:
a dark hand rested on her leg,
another clutched her thigh.

Bewildered, she pushed against
the intruding shoulder.

Oblivious to her concern,
he invaded calmly,
without saying a word.

Side by side they stand, the men in the bowler hats, shoulder to shoulder staring into the window with memories of horizons on rainy afternoons. Wearing perfect cravats, they huddle outside the shutters under the clouds  clouds clouds    clouds  clouds      clouds

      clouds   clouds   clouds   clouds  clouds    clouds

                        clouds    clouds   clouds 

                                    clouds of the eternal sky.

      With boundless ennui, they’re admiring your exquisite corpse.
